Logic Class II, Type B2 Biosafety Cabinets (BSCs) offer comprehensive protection for personnel, products, and the environment from hazardous particulates, including agents that necessitate BSL 1-4 containment. BSCs of Type B2, which are also known as 100% Exhaust or Total Exhaust BSCs, are required to maintain a minimum average airflow velocity of 100 feet per minute (fpm) through the sash opening. After HEPA filtration, Type B2 BSCs exhaust all inflow and downflow air into the atmosphere and draw HEPA-filtered downflow air from the laboratory. This design renders these cabinets appropriate for microbiological applications that involve volatile chemicals.
