Description

The MOTO Patello-Femoral Joint (PFJ) is a compartment-specific implant that is designed to restore a painless patellar movement throughout the entire articular range of motion when osteoarthritis is localized in the femoral trochlea region. MOTO PFJ is a component of Medacta’s MOTO Partial Knee System, which offers surgeons a comprehensive portfolio to manage any type of unicompartmental knee arthroplasty. This system is comprised of MOTO Medial and MOTO Lateral.

MOTO PFJ is equipped with a surgical procedure that is entirely guided, thereby eliminating the necessity for any free-hand steps and preserving the femoral intramedullary canal. These distinctive characteristics, in conjunction with an optimized implant design, would offer the surgeon a reproducible and dependable system for treating osteoarthritis of the patellofemoral joint.

PHILOSOPHY OF DESIGNinput:
output:The MOTO PFJ is equipped with an onlay anterior design that immediately captures the patella during knee extension, thereby preventing patellar subluxation and instability. The implant’s inlay design is intended to facilitate a seamless transition from mid-flexion to complete flexion, thereby reducing the likelihood of overstuffing the patella and restricting the load on the PFJ component in complete flexion, which is typically the most stressful phase of patellar loading.

The MOTO PFJ system is completed by a resurfacing patella component that is thin and fully congruent with the PFJ trochlea. This component is designed to further reduce trochlear anterior pressure and compartment overstuffing.
