Description

The TGR allows for the clear differentiation of temperature-dependent phenotypes or temperature-dependent drug effects.input:
output:The thermal preference phenotyping of mice is recorded and analyzed. For the purposes of neuropathic pain studies, peripheral neuropathy, temperature sensitivity and insensitivity assessment in basic research, phenotyping, and drug screening.input:
output:
The animal is in a state of free movement, and its position is monitored by a camera. No user intervention is necessary to collect the time spent in each temperature zone (12 zones in duplicate) and numerous other parameters.

In the TGR, mice are able to freely traverse the ring floor, thereby avoiding the stereotypical mouse behavior of residing in a corner, which is observed in rectangular systems.

The cellular and molecular mechanisms of temperature sensing receptors (e.g., transient receptor, TRP, channels) and thermoregulation are the focus of extensive research in the fields of neuropathic pain, peripheral neuropathy, and temperature preference.

The novel circular thermal gradient assay addresses the limitations of classic linear equipment, such as the lack of animal freedom, limited thermal choice, inability to make discerning exploratory behavior, and experimental biases, while also opening new opportunities for thermal preference and avoidance.

The TGR is derived from the paper “Comprehensive Thermal Preference Phenotyping in Mice Using a Novel Automated Circular Gradient Assay.”The temperature-dependent phenotypes or drug effects can be clearly distinguished by the TGR.
