The PSA concentration of nearly all healthy males under the age of 50 is less than 4 ng/mL. The patient is most likely to have prostate cancer if their PSA level exceeds 10 ng/mL. Certain studies have suggested that serum from patients with prostate cancer cells that have metastasized throughout their bodies contains elevated total PSA levels. In patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia, free PSA is more prevalent, as it is incapable of forming a complex with serine protease, according to additional research.input:
