Certain studies have suggested that serum from patients with prostate cancer cells that have metastasized throughout their bodies contains elevated total PSA levels. In patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia, free PSA is more prevalent, as it is incapable of forming a complex with serine protease, according to additional research.input:
