Photocatalytic oxidation is the critical component of efficient air filtration of harmful volatile air compounds. When exposed to a particular wavelength of ultraviolet light, the chemical compounds become highly reactive. The photocatalyst attracts pollutants and converts them into harmless compounds, including water (H2O) and carbon dioxide (CO2). The catalyst’s actions do not cause it to wear out or lose its effectiveness.
