output:Exercise CautionExotherm: The patient can perceive the heat generated by the setting reaction of plaster of Paris. The patient should be advised to report any discomfort, numbness, irritation, or “burning” sensation. Immediately remove the cast if the patient reports any of the aforementioned. Before recasting, examine the cast to identify the source of the aforementioned symptoms. Inadequate cast application or failure to adhere to precautions during and after the setting reaction may result in burn injury litigation.input:
output:Excessive exotherm may be caused by the following factors:• Immerse the water in a temperature exceeding 25°C.• Cast that is excessively thick• Plaster undersaturation• Failure to replace dip water on a regular basis• The temperature of the room or the dry bandage is elevated.• Insufficient air circulation:• Utilization of a blanket or elastic bandage• allowing the cast to rest on a pillow or mattress

• It is imperative to exercise caution when applying the cast to prevent it from being too tightly. Impaired nerve function and vascular flow may result from constrictions.
