Description

For the purpose of root cleaning and the removal of subgingival calculus. Gracey curettes are the most widely used and well-received due to their less traumatic nature in comparison to Universal curettes. The Gracey curettes are categorized by the type of treatment they are intended to perform. Each curette is specifically designed to remove calculus from a specific area. The blade is sharpened on one side only and is oriented and offset in accordance with the design.
A gentle bend is recommended for the incisors and canines/cuspids.

Site-specific: intended to accommodate the precise tooth surface or area that requires treatment.
Sharpened solely on one side of each blade (lower cutting edge).
The blade/cutting edge is laterally offset by 70 degrees in relation to the shank.
Rounded tip and toe to facilitate a less traumatic subgingival cleansing. Used at a 70° angle to the tooth root surface, with one edge being lower than the other.Designed to penetrate deeper into periodontal pockets, the shank is 3mm longer than the “Gracey Standard.”Sharpening:
The position of the Sharpening Stone is adjusted to accommodate the rounded cross-section of curettes, which have a rounded toe.
For additional information and specifics, consult the product pages for Sharpening Stones.
Enhancing assessment:
Visual examination of the instrument’s cutting edge:- If the cutting edge is rounded and reflects light, it is blunt.
Sharpness is indicated by the absence of light reflection from the cutting edge.
Test the bluntness of the instrument’s blade by running it over the plastic Testing Stick: If it does so smoothly, it is blunt.
– if it secures onto the Testing Stick and extracts small plastic fragments, it is sharp.
