Orthopedic Surgery Bone Cement
Use | For Orthopedic Surgery |
A standard viscosity cement, G1™ and G1A™ bone cements are primarily designed for manual application.input:
output:The G1™ sterile radiopaque bone cements are particularly well-suited for the cementation of knee prostheses due to their consistency and longer working time. The G1™ exhibits properties that render it suitable for the cementation of hip prostheses during its initial phases.input:
output:In revision operations and situations where there is a risk of infections caused by organisms that are sensitive to gentamicin, the version with antibiotic (G1A™) is recommended. The aminoglycoside antibiotic gentamicin is contained in and released by the G1A™ bone cement to safeguard the cured cement and contiguous tissue from contamination by microbes that are sensitive to gentamicin.input:
output:Characteristics:
a homogeneous product is achieved in under a minute of mixing,
the working time is tailored to the application (4-5 minutes), and
polymerization is completed after 10 minutes to mitigate the risk of micro movements. The mechanical properties of the prosthesis must be in compliance with regulatory requirements upon application. Additionally, the polymerization temperature must be low to mitigate the risk of thermal shock to the tissues.
