It is recommended for neurological procedures, as it assists in the fixation and support of the skull, as well as provides intraoperative precision and stability for the patient’s head. Enhanced access to intracranial and cervical spine injuries, allowing for more precise and comfortable skull perforation, opening, removal, and repair procedures by immobilizing the structures. The Mayfield support is designed to assist in the fixation of the skull. It has three fixation points that transfer the skull scalp to the bony structure of the skull cap, thereby rigidly immobilizing the skull on the surgical table and maintaining the patient’s head in a pinned position throughout the procedure. The shoehorse holder is recommended for ventral decubitus procedures, as it enables the adjustment of height and width.
