If your laboratory is conducting high-throughput assays for applications such as PCR, qPCR, or ELISA, centrifuging 96 and 384-well plates can be a surprising challenge. This is especially true for NGS work that involves minimal reaction volumes. Cross-contamination with other wells is to be avoided, and the entire reaction volume must be present in the bottom of the wells. For instance, the assay may fail as a result of insufficient volumes or the separation of reaction components from the reaction mixture due to droplets or condensation on the sides of the wells. Even worse, the immediate contamination issue is caused by the liquid that is forced out of wells during centrifugation and into other wells.
