The process of decalcification with EDTA is most effective when conducted at a pH value of 7.2-7.4. Milestone has created a unique, unbuffered 10% EDTA solution that is pure and unbuffered. This solution is formulated using a stoichiometric mixture of bibasic or tribasic EDTA to achieve the desired pH without the use of an acid/base buffer. The MoL-DECALCIFIER, in conjunction with increased temperature and stirring, enables the fixation, decalcification, and processing of bone marrows within 48 hours during the decalcification phase. The initial findings on H&E, IHC, FISH, and molecular analysis were presented at the “First Symposium on Pre-analytic of Pathological Specimens – Berlin March 2013” using Milestone’s decalcifying solution MoL-DECALCIFIER on bone marrow trephine biopsies.input:
